Fukumatsu Makes Their One Ramen Dish Count

A friend had recommended visiting Fukumatsu for ramen, but I was skeptical because the restaurant specializes in sushi and only has one ramen dish buried within its dinner menu; the Fukumatsu ramen, with a choice between salt or miso as the soup base. Then again, what's wrong with having one choice when it delivers everything you want?
The generous bowl of thin, springy noodles came topped with a mountain of shaved scallion strips, young bamboo shoots, seaweed, and a semi-hard-boiled egg. You don't actually get that many eggs, the reason there are so many in my photo is because my friends donated their unwanted eggs to me (and that phrase turned out sounding much weirder than I intended it to.) The best part was the thick slabs of fatty pork, the kind where the meat is seemingly injected with fat so that each rich bite oozes with porky lipids and brings you closer to death.

Cherries, or cupcake? You can have both!
The death factor was partially offset by the complimentary end-of-meal cherries and green tea, but we ruined it by going around the corner to Buttercup Bake Shop for dessert. Their cupcakes were too sweet, but overall I'd say that ramen and cupcakes do a body good.
