Notes from the Babbo Block Party
Mario Batali's Babbo is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, and on Sunday the restaurant turned Waverly Place into a block party birthday, with snacks from Babbo and the other restaurants in Batali's empire. Blogger Vanessa Vichit-Vadakan was there and details the scene on her site, The Beet Goes On:
We didn't know what to expect, but we imagined there would be snacks. And there were. Del Posto provided "testa panini": little sandwiches of pig face meat on potato chips. Actually, I'm assuming it's pork, but maybe it was something else. I didn't ask. Maybe because my mouth was full. There was sausage with white bean in tomato sauce provided by Lupa (I think). I scored some nice bits of cheese (parmigiano?) in the rich, chunky sauce....
Looks like a good time was had by all. I wish I would have A.) gotten an invitation and B.) had the fortitude to attend on such a miserably hot day.
