In the last couple of weeks you might have noticed we've been doing things a little differently at Ed Levine Eats. What was once my personal blog focusing mostly on New York food has become a group endeavor devoted to helping serious eaters find everything delicious in New York City. Welcome to Serious Eats New York!

Dishing Deliciousness, Not Dirt

New York is filled with great food websites and blogs, like Eater, Grub Street, and The Strong Buzz, all of which we love for their up-to-the-minute reports on openings, closings, and the comings-and-goings of top-name chefs. But Serious Eats New York is all about the never-ending pursuit of the delicious. We're going to keep the gossip to a minimum here and focus instead on where to get tasty eats. Ruth Reichl once called me the "Missionary of the Delicious" in the New York Times, and that's an epithet the whole team takes seriously. Our goal is to provide you with all the information you need to maximize the deliciousness quotient in your life. Here's how this is new:

Serious Eats New York Is Your Community

We're cooking up Serious Eats New York to build on the amazing community that's formed since Serious Eats was born less than a year and a half ago, while continuing the tradition that Ed Levine Eats started two and a half years ago. Contributing to this site comes naturally to me—this is a beat I've been covering comprehensively for decades, in publications such as the New York Times and Gourmet and on WNYC.

But to really do justice to the New York food scene, it's going to take a lot more than I can do singlehandedly. My own posts couldn't possibly do justice to the incredible energy emanating from the New York food scene. And at the same time, I know we need a site that, simply put, will help serious eaters pursue delicious food in New York any time they want to.

The most exciting thing to happen to food media is the internet and the blogosphere. Food bloggers have introduced desperately needed energy, passion, and discernment to the world of serious eating. And together, we've built an online community of serious eaters that makes Serious Eats such a remarkable site.

When I started blogging on Ed Levine Eats, I started meeting, both online and in real life, many of the great food bloggers who populate the New York foodscape. People like Adam Kuban, Robyn Lee, and Alaina Browne were all blogging about New York food way before me and are all first-rate writers, keen observers, and fine young journalists. It's no surprise they, along with Raphael Brion, form the core team that runs Serious Eats. And through this team I have met so many other talented food bloggers and writers who are going to become regular contributors to SE:NY. You'll be getting to know and love the writing of people like Joe DiStefano, Zach Brooks, and Kathy Chan, along with many others.

Most important, I have had the good fortune to interact with the entire Serious Eats community, to exchange ideas and opinions with as close-knit an online community as I have ever been a part of. It's your ideas—and your taste—that will make Serious Eats New York such a delicious addition to our community.
