Week in Reviews: Best Bites
Posted by Zach Brooks, May 28, 2008
Editor's note: Everyone on the web does review round-ups. But when it comes down to it, SE:NY doesn't care so much about keeping tabs on who gave what place how many stars. Instead, our weekly review roundups focus on the tastiest bites the critic enjoyed. Read this post every week, and you'll discover what dishes to order (provided you trust the reviewer). —Zach

Clockwise from top; namesake artichoke, sicilian, "regular".
- "The regular slice, dressed with a bright tomato sauce and heavy-handed scattering of a few different cheeses" is the way to go at Artichoke in the E. Village [NYT; Meehan]
- The "bone-in veal alla milanese, sealed in bread crumbs, with chanterelles" at Bar Milano is excellent [NYM; Platt]
- At The Harrison, the "hefty, juicy 'English-cut' lamb chop" is reliably impressive [NYT; Bruni]
- The prime boneless rib eye at Madangsui in Koreatown is "gorgeously marbled" and the "leader of the pack" [VV; Sietsema]
- "Wildwood's pulled pork, [is] fine-shredded and moist even without vinegar mopping sauce" [NYP; Cuozzo]
- The pretzels at Cafe Katja "come with pots of sweet Liptauer, seasoned with onions, chives, paprika, and caraway seeds" [New Yorker; Collins]
- At Pomme de Terre in Brooklyn, the first rate croque-monsieur is distinguished by its brioche, "which tastes like a savory rendition of French toast" [NYDN; Restaurant Girl]
