Mia Dona's Prices Are Shockingly Moderate
When's the last time you were shocked by how reasonable the prices are at a fancy-pants restaurant? Mia Dona, Michael Psilakis and Donatella Arpeia's newly opened, more-Italian-than-not restaurant on East 58th Street, has prices so low that I could have sworn New York Magazine's copy of the menu is filled with misprints. Get this: Half the entrees are under $20! That's unheard of for a midtown east, white tablecloth restaurant with one of the city's best chefs in the kitchen. Are these preview prices? Apparently not. And if you go now, before the restaurant's liquor license comes through, it's BYOB, making the restaurant almost absurdly cheap at the moment.
Plus, the menu reads incredibly deliciously:
Grilled Swordfish crispy pork, fennel, puntarella, pecorino
Roasted Pork Chop frisée, lardoons, farm egg
Braised Veal Breast escarole, cannellini beans
Braised Beef Ribs smoked mozzarella polenta, cipollini, tomato
Polpettone florentine meatloaf, egg, mushrooms, beef broth
Mixed Grill lamb chop, lamb ribs, cotechino, bone marrow, salsa verde, lemon
I will get there as soon as I can and report back.
Mia Dona
