Grandaisy Chocolate Cake and Milk: The Ultimate ELE Meal Replacement

I'll admit it. I'm developing a Grandaisy habit. It started with the olive rolls. Then I moved on to the individual sour cherry almond cakes with a chocolate bottom crust. Currently I'm in a chocolate cake phase. Grandaisy's individual chocolate cake (tortino di cioccolata) is halfway between a cakey brownie and a big fat serious chocolate cookie. One of these little chocolate cakes with a glass of really cold milk is my idea of a perfect meal replacement. I fear my habit may grow into a dependency. Between Grandaisy and its neighbor Gray's Papaya I'm in serious trouble.

We've been huge fans of Sullivan St/Grandaisy Bakery for several years. Semi di Sesamo is our favorite bread in all of Manhattan. As UWS'ers, we were joyful when they opened an outpost in our nabe. So we've been purchasing our favorite bread, the small ciabatta, and the winter special panini without schlepping downtown. BUT, since Oct, we have been absolutely longing for the pizza bianca. The oven finally arrived from Italy after getting stalled in customs but here we are, a month later, and still pizzaless. So does anyone have the details aside from some statement about a supposed oven inspection from Con Ed? Since the staff has been secretive when asked, I'm thinking Con Ed found a problem with the oven and now we are limbo. I'm afraid to ask, "Will we ever get the pizza up here??!?!!?!"

I talked to Monica, and she told me it's the usual Con Ed waiting game, nothing unusual there. When they get the gas is anyone's guess. It took the Second Avenue Deli guys months. I'm with you, man. I love that pizza.

Ok. That's cool. Thanks for the confirmation. A day after my post, I spoke with someone at the downtown location who allayed my concerns. I suppose we may be better off nagging Con Ed instead of Grandaisy. BTW, thanks for the feedback re the dinges. Sounds like they are planning to make the brussels wafle fresh - remember, "two minutes". Anyway, many thnx!
