Tia Pol chef Alex Raij Discovers Serious Pizzeria on LES
When my cellphone rang on Sunday night, I was surprised to find Tia Pol chef-restaurateur Alex Raij on the line. "Ed, it's Alex from Tia Pol, I probably shouldn't be telling you this because if you know everyone is going to discover the place, but I'm down here at Isabella's Pizza on Grand Street right next to Kossar's Bialys, and I'm having a great pizza that came out of a wood-burning oven."
Alex is a great cook with some serious taste buds, so I would venture a guess that Isabelle's is pretty terrific. Anybody been there?

jeff b. I'm so sorry you went down to Isabella's recently. We've been posting on sliceny.com for a few weeks now talking about the pizza going downhill there. The good pie man went back to Italy and the other guy just isn't very good. I feel like I should treat you to a good pizza somewhere.
