The Politics of Dulce de Leche Brownie Ice Cream
The New York Times reports that Adam Riff, a legislative aide to State Senator Thomas Duane, has started a grass roots campaign to get Dulce de Leche Brownie Ice Cream on the flavor menu at Cones, the high-quality Gelateria run by the Argentine brothers Raul and Oscar D'Aloiso. Brother Raul told Mr. Riff he needed to get 50 requests to justify the labor. The store has currently received 38 requests. I will lend some New York Eats street cred to this quest, and as I know the D'Aloisio brothers I am confident there will Dulce de Leche Brownie Ice Cream flowing down Bleecker Street soon. Raul says he's already looking for a source for brownies. He should look no further than the Amy's four doors down from him. Come to think of it, Murray's Cheese Shop, two doors down, has very fine brownies. Until said lobbying effort is over have the pear or the cantaloupe sorbet instead. They will definitely satisfy you until this Dulce de Leche Brownie mess gets straightened out.
